Hey, festive folks! How was your Thanksgiving? Did you enjoy digging into food galore and eating till your stomach was full? I know I did. What's beautiful about the last three months of every year is back-to-back-holidays. We've had fun and Thanksgiving, and now it's time for Christmas!
Have you felt a sudden urge to drink cocoa by the fire or feel a magical sensation in the air? Are you feeling more jolly and amped for the next month? It's because it's almost Christmas season! With Christmas just around the corner, let's get into the holiday spirit! Let's explore what makes Christmas the most marvelous time of the year!
Festive Friday
Do you know what Festive Friday is? Most Americans are unfamiliar with this term, as it is more common in the United Kingdom. Festive Friday is known as the unofficial official start of the festive season that starts after the day of Thanksgiving. It's where you slowly stop sipping pumpkin-flavoured treats and start getting hot cocoa at your coffee shop. It's where you switch from wearing light cardigans to more holiday-themed sweatshirts. The purpose of this day is to get you more in the holiday mood.
How can you celebrate this day? A great way is to throw a party with your close friends or family. Maybe you can bake some sugar cookies, eat some candy canes, and play classical Christmas movies. Oh, and of course hot cocoa. This is a perfect way to shift into the Christmas season and set the holiday cheer for the next month.
What are some activities you can do during Festive Friday? A classic is making DIY ornaments. Have you and your friends pick out a store-bought ornament and spice it up with photos, paint, and sparkles. Feel free to hang them up on your Christmas tree and show it to others! You can also have a cookie decorating contest, where you can bake a batch of cookies and decorate them with sprinkles and frosting. See which of your friends has the best design. And of course, eat them after! Lastly, you can binge watch Holiday movies. There's something about wearing Christmas pajamas and getting comfy while watching childhood movies. You feel nostalgic but in the best way possible. These are just a few suggestions to spend quality time with your loved ones and prepare for the new season.
Here's Christmas Christina! She's always been a huge fan of the holidays, but with Festive Friday right around the corner, she can't keep her excitement to herself! To get into the holiday cheer, Christina has switched from orange and brown clothing to holiday sweaters. She's also started "Jack Frost" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" to get into the Christmas spirit! You can gift her to someone who may have forgotten that Christmas is near and it's time to get festive!
Creativity within Christmas, with a Side of Treats
Christmas is the perfect opportunity to become creative! Whether that be making a memorable card for you family or a DIY stocking, this is the perfect way to add a creative touch to your holidays. Why not have a weekend dedicated to making Christmas crafts? Get your friends and family together, grab all the stationery and scissors, and get to crafting! This is an amazing way to not only create memories, but you get a ton of creative decorations!
Now let's move onto the treats! If you're expecting a gingerbread house, that's what I was about to get at! Gingerbread houses are the epitome of Christmas, so why not make this an exciting hobby to do with your loved ones? I can't tell if building the gingerbread house or decorating it is more appealing, but either way, this is a staple to your Christmas season. Another great treat to add to your collection is Christmas crunch popcorn. This is where you take white popcorn and add some crushed up pretzels, sprinkles, candy melts, and milk chocolate. This is such an easy treat that takes less than five minutes to make and tastes more delicious than you can imagine!
Here's Christmas Crystal! She's extremely passionate about making homemade items, and crafts is one of her favorite. Since Christmas is approaching, Crystal is ecstatic about bring her friends home to make customized stockings! She hopes to make some Christmas treats after, as the crafts can take a while. You can gift her to someone who you might want to make crafts or treats with!
Holiday Tunes
We've done the crafts and the treats, but what's next? If you've made it this far and haven't said Christmas music, I would be shocked. A suggestion would be to create a playlist with the traditional, classical tunes mixed with some modern tunes. You've got to include the originals like "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" and "Jingle Bell Rock". But don't forget the newer music too! Some suggestion include "White Christmas" by John Legend, "Christmas Love" by Justin Bieber, and "I Need You Christmas" by Jonas Brothers. Whatever you do, get jiggy with it and get into the Christmas spirit. What's better than blasting Christmas music in the car and singing it at the top of your lungs with the chilly weather outside?
Here's Christmas Cameron! Most people play Christmas music during December right? Cameron plays it all year long! She's been forming her Christmas playlist for years, with over 300 songs and counting. Her favorite thing to do during the holidays is to blast Christmas music in her house and have her family sing along to it. You can gift her to someone who needs a reminder to get their Christmas playlist ready!
Spice Up Your Home
It's not Christmas without a Christmas feel in your home. An essential is definitely a wreath on your door, which automatically feels like Christmas is near. Something to do outside of your home is having inflatable Christmas characters and Christmas lights circling your home. A classic that most people have is an inflatable Santa Claus and a light-up reindeer. I don't know about you guys, but driving in my neighborhood and seeing lit up homes makes me extremely joyful. Likewise, you can spice up the inside of your home by setting up the Christmas tree and hanging wreaths with lights on the stair rail. There's something so magical about Christmas within and outside your home that makes you want to jump in joy and leaves you feeling nostalgic in the best way possible.
Here's Christmas Belinda! While most people focus on the inside of their home for Christmas, Belinda goes above and beyond with decorating the outside of her home. She spends hours wrapping lights around her trees and house. Belinda would then proceed to blow up five inflatables and place a wreath on her door. You can gift her to someone who needs a reminder to decorate soon!
Share the Festive Spirit
Aside from all of the decorations and playlists, don't forget that Christmas is also about helping those in need. Not everyone has the same opportunity to celebrate Christmas with their loved ones, so find some time to give back. This can look like donating your clothes, volunteering in your community, or being kind to a stranger. Something as small as this can truly make someone's day a million times better. This is what Christmas is really about.
Need some more ideas on how to share the holiday cheer? You can give a generous tip at a store, give someone a hug, or even pay for the person behind you in line. On the other hand, you can make holiday cards and gifts for the elderly in retirement homes or hold a toy drive for kids.
Here's Christmas Christy! She is super excited about Christmas and hopes to create many memories with her family! Christy understands that not everyone is fortunate enough to celebrate Christmas, so she decides to spend her weekends helping others. Every December, Christy goes through her clothes and donates the ones she doesn't wear anymore. She also spends time volunteering at a toy drive at her church. You can gift her to someone who needs a reminder that Christmas is about spreading joy!
Put a ribbon on it
All of this goes to say Christmas is near and it's time get excited! Begin your Festive Friday celebrations, make crafts with your friends, start baking Christmas treats, create the perfect holiday playlist, and decorate your home. Whatever you do, don't forget Christmas is about spreading joy. Get ready for mouth-watering hot cocoa, customized stockings, and a beatiful Christmas tree! Merry Christmas everyone and make this a memorable holiday!
